that's just it photo

I know, a lot of my posts have been centered around my kitchen lately, but I did make some goals, remember?

Well,  we got quite a bit of snow this weekend. ( about 8″ ) So we did the only thing we could do; watch movies, eat and drink.

I made a slow cooker beer beef stew.   Carrots, onion, celery, sweet potatoes and of course, some beer.   It also called for a great homemade bbq sauce that turned out better than I thought.

Over all a great dish for a snow day.

The rest of the day we sipped on cocktails, ventured out in the snow and watched tv.

Not much going on. I have been quite busy.  So Ill make a simple post.

I got these awesome glasses lately.  Not to0 big not to0 small.  The kitchen was casting a great pocket of light. So I figured I’d take advantage.

I also am noticing I have a small obsession with cutting boards.  ( Lame?)  I also love wooden plates and bowls.  You should see my house… I have wooden bowls everywhere.

It is supposed to snow again this weekend.  Im not sure how I feel about that…

We have had quite a few rainy days lately.  A constant flat light with bits of sun.  Makes for good naps.

On another note, I finally joined Flickr! ( well, I am finally uploading to flickr) I know, I know, I am really really late on catching the flickr bus, but ill catch up.

I’ll be honest, its a bit overwhelming. So many photos, so many styles. Its so easy to get sucked in for hours and hours.  Its nice though.

In my efforts to keep up with my goals this year, here is a little something I ate yesterday.  ( shot in complete artificial light.  my apologies.)

I am a lover of tomatoes.  There is nothing better than a fresh tomato sandwich, tomatoes with homemade blue cheese dressing, or even a whole tomato with just a little salt.  ( eaten like an apple)  . They are so simple and so good.

Yesterday though, I took some cherry tomatoes, threw in some feta, added balsamic vinegar, a little sugar and some s&p and had myself a great quick fix.

It needs to be summer.  Tomatoes are everywhere in the summer.

My sister was recently engaged ( see some of her engagement photos here) and the whole family (especially my mother)  is in hardcore wedding mode. ( its crazy) I have been back and forth to the mountains this month to help and have been able to go to many venues, churches and spaces.  Each spaces has been very different, from the light to the decor.  Here are some images, inside and out, of a few of the locations.  Ill share more tomorrow.

Weather has been crazy lately.  I could go for a little less rain and a nice cup of joe this morning.  Hope your Monday is off to a good start.

I made a goal with myself this year to try and eat better.  I love to cook, but we all know cooking takes time and thats something I do not always have.  So I am going to try and plan what I eat ahead of time.   In efforts to work on my photography ( also a goal this year) I’ll  try and take some snap shots before I eat it.  We all know healthy food looks better through the camera then junk food, so hopefully these two goals will work hand in hand.

Lunch today  was a curry turkey burger with a cucumber yogurt sauce ( which I am currently addicted to–especially with little breadsticks as a snack–top photo)  Side of artichoke and tomato pasta salad.

It was good.

A few weeks back while driving around, we came upon this great old abandoned barn.  It was right around sunset and the light was fantastic.  Very gold.  Here are a few snaps.  I especially like the top two together.

It went back to cold and rainy today.  Heres to some nicer weather this weekend.

It has been a busy past couple days, but its been warm!  I am so ready for the warmer seasons.  Beer.  Grass.  Camping…  Winter has only begun though.

I’ve been in a lot of random interiors lately.  (will share why later)  The spaces are pretty empty and are lit only by day light.  These images are from an old farm house we visited recently.  The light around 4:30 was great.  Here are a few.

Hello, hello…

Didnt really escape the winter weather, it snowed everyday. Maybe ‘A Winter Break’ isn’t a very appropriate title. But it was a great trip with great friends.  We locked ourselves in a rustic mountain cabin, never really getting out of our slippers, all while eating and playing games. (including a 5 hour game of Risk) We had good drinks, great fires, and an awesome view.   A nice way to wrap up the holidays.

It has been so, so cold lately.  It feels like I am living in a completely different place. A tundra.  Waking up, it just looks colder.  The rooms are still.  A grey cold light comes through every window.  I am feeling very ready for a warm screened-in porch, eating outside, and driving with all the windows down.  Is it April yet?

Going out of town tomorrow for a greatly anticipated annual winter retreat with friends.  Looking forward to laughs, drinks, good food and games.  See you all later this week.

There is something about baking that is so rewarding.  I am thinking its the waiting game.  The fact that you can see through the oven window, watching it rise, smelling it.

I think 2010 will be a pretty big waiting game as well.  There is a lot I want to accomplish.  Especially when it comes to my photography.  It will all take time, and finding time to do all of them will be a challenge, but i’m up for it.  The waiting game will all pay off in the end, I guess.

Had the great honor ( was also a gift to them for Christmas) of shooting engagement photos for my sister and Ben.  It was incredibly cold out, about 26 degrees, but we bundled up and had a great time.  Here is a sneak peak at some of the photos.  More to come.  Congrats to Lauren and Ben!
